When he came to the Nissan Pavillion in Virginia about ten years ago, he requested a bunch of cushions and pillows for the green room (presumably he preferred them to chairs and couches for meditation/relaxation?) and also requested bottled water and gatorade (I knew the guy who was in charge of the "ransom lists" for all performers at the time. He's worn the little gold cross necklace for decades I'm pretty sure it was his fathers' or his mothers'. David has indicated that he always deeply regretted that decision.Īs to religion, he claims that both he and Iman are "very spiritual but not religious" and is reportedly into meditation and Buddhism/Zen more than anything. It was at the peak of Bowie's fame and as he was on tour at the time, his managers/producers convinced him that he was obligated to do the shows and couldn't cancel to go to Terry's funeral. Terry was Schitzophrenic he escaped from a mental home and threw himself in front of a train around 1980, I think. Terry joined the British navy when he was in his teens and that seems to be where David became enthralled with "exotic" people and places while sitting at home and missing his big brother and imagining him sailing around the world and meeting all kinds of beautiful women from foreign lands. When Bowie was growing up he idolized his big brother, Terry, who was ten years older. I'm glad he seems so happy, though I gotta admit that from what I've seen, Iman does come off as vapid so other than the physical attraction (and wow she looks like a goddess, 'specially considering she's in her mid-50s) I don't understand the appeal. He's been married to Iman for 17 years and seems to be monogamous - at least I've never heard any rumors otherwise, even back in the days when I subscribed to bowienet. He also discussed, in the BTWN interviews, how when he met Iman he knew pretty much immediately that he wanted to marry her, and that he wanted kids with her and such (they had a daughter in 2000). In Bowie's Black Tie White Noise dvd there's about an hour of interview footage and he says something along the lines of 'I always related less to the majority/mainstream society and felt a sense of otherness and was more interested in the things which society-at-large called taboo.experimented with sexuality but never felt like I could truly identify as a bisexual / liked the idea of it more than the practice, all told.' Okay I'm a lifelong Bowie fan, though admittedly it's been a long time since I've really read up on any biographical things so I'll just say what I remember reading/seeing.
